This low-cost pack includes everything you need to get started, including:

• a flowchart on how to become a DAMAS registered lab
• guidance notes on what you need to do to become a DAMAS registered lab
• guidance notes on how to comply with the Medical Devices Directive and DAMAS
• the DAMAS Management System Specification
• Invitation to Tender forms to obtain quotations from the assessors for the cost of your third party audit
• information about the administration of the scheme and cost and contacts for help and advice

The DLA’s DAMAS team is on hand to answer any enquiries you may have; alternatively, why not ask a colleague whose laboratory already holds DAMAS status? Some laboratories also employ a consultant to pilot them through the process.

When you are ready to arrange assessment, simply complete the Invitation to Tender forms and send one to each of the three certification bodies. Once you have received their quotations, contact the company of your choice to arrange a mutually convenient date for the audit.

This independent third party will then assess your processes against the DAMAS Management System Specification and check your Medical Devices Directive / MDR compliance and MHRA registration. After your assessment has been successfully carried out, the Certification Body will notify the DAMAS registrar at the DLA and you will be issued with a certificate and the right to use DAMAS materials in your marketing.
