DLA Takes the Stage at BDA Conference in Harrogate
On Saturday 26th May, the DLA held its first ever seminar at the BDA Conference, the theme of the seminar was the
‘Medical Device Matters’ and the considerations dentists should take into account when deciding which lab they use, particularly if they are planning to choose an overseas dental laboratory.By
Rather than focusing purely on quality of work or the dubious regulatory controls that take place in the UK, the DLA, represented by Chair, Jim Mackie and DLA Council Members David Smith and Edward Attenborough discussed the need for dentists and technicians to work together and to emulate the types of relationship so readily promoted by leading figures in dentistry such as Dr John Besford.
The seminar also focused on the digital advances that UK dental technology had made and how, if used correctly could easily make dental laboratories as competitive as their overseas rivals alongside improving accuracy.
The seminar lasted approximately 1 hour and left delegates with little doubt that the overseas option was not necessarily the best in the economic long term or the best in terms of a quality bespoke dental experience.
